Highlights: February holidays: Smart Bison sees red on the roads of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and orange in Île-de-France. Very heavy traffic to be expected on the A6 and the A43. Roads to avoid according to Bison futé to avoid traffic jams as much as possible. The first slowdowns will appear at the end of the morning on A6 between Wissous and Chilly-Mazarin (Essonne) The motorways to avoid are the A40 between Mâcon and Annemasse from 12 p.m. to 4 p. m.

The start of the winter holidays for zone A and the second week for zone C will cause the first crossovers on the roads

The February school holidays continue and traffic will get complicated for this second weekend.

It marks the start of a new week of vacation for zone C (Paris, Versailles, Créteil, Toulouse and Montpellier), but also the departures for winter vacation for zone A, namely the academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon and Poitiers.

“This weekend also marks the start of the winter holidays for the North and Central zones of the Netherlands and the end for the South zone of the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Thus, traffic will be heavy between the northern borders and the winter sports resorts of the Alps,” states Bison futé in its forecasts.

Very heavy traffic to be expected on the A6 and the A43

This Friday is thus classified orange by Bison futé in Île-de-France, in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and in the Grand Est in the direction of departures and green throughout the country in the direction of returns.

The first slowdowns will appear at the end of the morning on the A6 between Wissous and Chilly-Mazarin (Essonne) and traffic will remain heavy on the A6 until the end of the evening.

For Saturday, it is in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes that we will probably have to be patient, with a day classified as red in the region in the direction of departures.

In terms of returns, Bison futé sees orange in Île-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

However, no disruptions to report for Sunday across the country regardless of the direction of traffic.

Roads to avoid according to Bison futé

To avoid traffic jams as much as possible, the road safety organization has drawn up a list of the most congested roads for this weekend and therefore the sectors to avoid as much as possible.

For Friday in the direction of departures, leave or cross Île-de-France before 2 p.m., avoid the A4 between Metz and Strasbourg from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the A6 between Fleury and Mâcon from 12 p.m. hours to 8 p.m.

For Saturday, it will be even more complicated, since it must be remembered that Bison futé has placed the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in red in the direction of departures.

The motorways to avoid are the A40 between Mâcon and Annemasse from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the A43 between Lyon and Modane from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the A430 near Saint-Hélène-sur-Isère from 11 a.m. at 16.

Also be careful on two national roads that you are not advised to take: the N90 between Albertville and Bourg-Saint-Maurice from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the N85 between Grenoble and Gap, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In the direction of returns, favor a return or crossing of Île-de-France before 2 p.m., but also try not to take the A7 between Orange and Lyon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the A40 between Annemasse and Mâcon from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the A43 between Chambéry and Lyon from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
