Millions of users benefit: Google Maps is introducing a new feature.
The Immersive View makes impressive 3D navigation possible.
Frankfurt – After the spectacular tuning of Google Maps to 3D, Google has introduced a revolutionary function for its maps.
This can fundamentally change the way we navigate.
With the “Immersive View” users can now experience impressive 3D navigation.
The new 3D view on Google also shows buildings, vehicles, trees and even flying birds.
The moving views are generated like in a video game.
Most recently, Google introduced a button for current weather.

Immersive View catapults Google Map navigation to video game levels
According to reports from the US media website
CNET,
the “Immersive View” of the Google Maps app, for which the “Driving Mode” is to be set, not only takes 3D visualization to a whole new level.
It also offers the option to use a time slider to show future weather or traffic conditions on the route at a specific time.
Instead of just a red line for the route, there are “real” images of the traffic to see.
The Immersive View from Google Maps is currently only available for a few places in Germany, such as the Eiserner Steg in Frankfurt.

The new feature comes in two versions: one for exploring places such as landmarks and parks, the other for comprehensive and detailed previews of routes.
The immersive view for routes will initially be rolled out in 15 cities worldwide - such as San Francisco, New York and London, as Google announced.

Google Maps 101: Immersive View combines AI and imagery to bring routes to life
Google Maps helps millions of users get from A to B every day.
In many European countries this is now possible with the “Immersive View for Routes”.
As Google announced, this represents "an entirely new way to preview every step of your route" - and a quantum leap from the Street View tool that was introduced in 2007.
With the route preview, users will be able to explore every section and every environment along their planned journey in advance.
This would probably prevent wanderings like those of drivers who were led into the desert by Google Maps.
Although Immersive View looks extremely realistic, it does not use real-time images.
Instead, Google combines images from Street View and aerial photos taken using special 3D cameras.
Artificial intelligence and computer-aided image recognition are used to fuse the data and create impressive 3D representations.
These attractions in Germany have Immersive View:
Brandenburg Gate in Berlin
Berlin TV tower
Reichstag in Berlin
Cologne cathedral
Ludwig Museum in Cologne
Old Opera in Frankfurt/Main
Eiserner Steg in Frankfurt am Main
Marienplatz in Munich
Frauenkirche in Munich
Nymphenburg Palace in Munich
New Google Maps Immersive View: This is how it works
To activate Google Maps' Immersive View mode, you must first search for a location in Google Maps for which the option is already available.
The immersive view can then be started by clicking on the preview image.
The corresponding location can be selected at different times of the day using a “Time and Weather” bar in the lower part of the screen.
If the immersive view is not offered in the search results, there are probably no fundamental problems with Google Maps to blame.
These can usually be solved quickly: Google only gradually activates accounts in Germany.
