It is intended to take mobile communication to a new level: The “Rabbit R1” comes from the USA – and can do almost anything thanks to AI.

Munich – 17 years ago, at the beginning of 2007, Apple boss Steve Jobs presented the first iPhone.

The idea conquered the world.

And the question has long been: What comes after the smartphone?

Since last week, Apple has been selling Vision Pro data glasses in the USA for $3,500 as technology of the future.

But who wants to strap such bulky equipment to their face?

But now the Californian company Rabbit could have the answer to the question of the smartphone of tomorrow.

At the end of March, it is launching its mini-computer R1 onto the market - which many technology experts consider to be more groundbreaking and more important than Apple glasses and any smartphone of recent years.

IPPEN.MEDIA

explains what is behind the AI bunny.

Smartphone “Rabbit R1”: With the help of AI, it can be operated almost exclusively by voice

The US manufacturer sees the R1 as a “pocket companion”.

According to Rabbit founder Jesse Lyu, the orange device, which is only 7.8 centimeters small and weighs 115 grams, is said to be the “simplest computer in the world.

“Something that is so intuitive to use that you don’t even have to learn it.”

The whole thing works with particularly powerful artificial intelligence and almost exclusively by voice.

Anyone who wants to know something about the Rabbit or has a task for him speaks into the microphone.

The demo (rabbit.tech/keynote) shows that the little box then does almost everything in seconds, as if by magic.

Inventor is convinced: “The Rabbit is as groundbreaking as the first iPhone”

If you believe Jesse Lyu, the “rabbit breeder” so to speak, the little companion can do practically anything.

He answers even the most complicated questions, books flights, plays music, orders us a taxi or a pizza, translates practically any language on vacation - and in real time - creates images or Excel tables using AI and much more.

If there is anything unclear during an ordering process, the device asks: “Do you have a lot of luggage?” or “Which taxi do you need?” Or: “Do you want extra peppers on the salami pizza?”

The small camera enables amazing tricks: If you point it at a picture of a musician, you will immediately hear the corresponding songs.

And if you take a photo of your refrigerator, you will receive suggestions as to which recipes are available for these ingredients - either particularly light or higher in calories.

Microsoft boss Satya Nadella is of course not neutral as an AI provider, but euphorically praises: “The Rabbit is as groundbreaking as the first iPhone.”

How much does the “Rabbit R1” cost?

Maybe - but only with many of your own apps, all of which you have to call up separately - and with often complicated entries.

Everything you want to know or have done with a single voice application doesn't exist yet.

And the AI rabbit doesn't want to compete with the classic smartphone that plays TikTok, YouTube or Instagram for hours.

Inventor Jesse Lyu: “The smartphone has specialized in wasting our time.

We want to save people time.”

Because of the fairly simple hardware, the Rabbit is surprisingly affordable.

German customers pay 202.90 euros including shipping at rabbit.tech.

Using your cell phone can sometimes cause problems.

In one town, rigorous measures are now being taken: “Devastating effects”: the municipality bans smartphones in public.
