The decree kicks off the new 'Milk in schools' program with a budget of 6 million euros.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry published it, specifying that from tomorrow, until March 13, producers in the dairy sector, their associations, cooperatives or consortia, will be able to present projects to promote the consumption of milk and dairy products among pupils in primary schools.
Similarly to the tender already launched for "Fruit and vegetables in schools", this European measure will also be implemented by Masaf no longer through contracts with companies active in distribution, but with a model that is aimed directly at the primary sector.
In addition to the endowment, non-repayable contributions are envisaged for up to 90% of the expenses for the program which finances the supply and distribution of dairy products among pupils in primary schools, as well as accompanying educational actions including tasting courses, recreational activities, visits to farms and information actions on agriculture, healthy eating habits and supply chains.
We thus also want to promote a sustainable approach, raising pupils' awareness of balanced consumption and short supply chains, with a protective effect on health and combating waste.
The direct involvement of producers will lead to spending efficiency, a preference for local supply chains and the territoriality of products, as well as a lower impact on logistics and distribution.
