“I’m a little surprised by this strike.”
The social movement of controllers which will lead the SNCF to cancel one in two trains this weekend of February 16 to 18 astonishes the new Minister of Transport Patrice Vergriete.
“It was approved by the management of bonuses and salary increases which would be the envy of many of our fellow citizens
,” he assured at the microphone of BFMTV this Wednesday, February 14.
Controllers believe that SNCF is slow to implement the agreement signed at the end of 2022 to end the strike which paralyzed the Christmas holidays.
In particular, they are demanding an increase in their work bonus and hiring to reach two controllers per train.
The company responds that its commitments
“are kept”
and that they are accompanied by an additional bonus of 400 euros announced in February.
“The right to strike is sacred”
, however, recalled the Minister of Transport, noting however that
“the right to travel and work is just as sacred”
.
Patrice Vergriete calls for the
“responsibility”
of controllers and management of the SNCF to
“end this strike”
and
“support those who are victims of this weekend’s mobilization”
.
The company has promised to notify all travelers with tickets for a train between Friday and Sunday during the day on Wednesday.
