A notice in a supermarket limits the maximum deposit acceptance per customer.
This causes outrage.
And it's obviously not an isolated case.
Mainz – Deposit machines are often a point of contention in supermarkets and discounters.
When the deposit requirement was expanded and many dairy products were affected, there was heated discussion.
But enormous payout amounts also always cause a stir.
Most recently, a 180 euro deposit voucher sparked a debate in which a supermarket employee even got involved.
This issue is also addressed by a change in a Tegut branch, which caused anger for some customers.
A new rule was introduced in the market, about which customers were informed via a notice on the deposit machine.
However, this innovation does not seem to be well received by everyone.
Photo of Tegut notice on the deposit machine makes customers angry
A Tegut customer published a photo of the notice in question on the Reddit platform.
According to him, the notice comes from a branch in Mainz.
However, it remains unclear whether the photo was actually taken in a Tegut in Mainz and at what point in time.
The note (error corrected by our editorial team) says: “Dear customers, since we only have limited capacity and out of consideration for our regular customers, we can only accept empties per customer up to a deposit value of 5.00 euros.
Anyone who doesn’t comply will be banned from entering the house!”
Deposit machine notice in Tegut branch causes a stir – Rewe customer knows the grief
The new rule leaves many users speechless.
One user describes the problem in detail: “My normal bag packs an 8 euro deposit in cans, and that's not a really big bag.
There are completely different people who bring entire garbage bags with them.
If the limit were 10 euros, I would perhaps still say that you can do it that way, but at 5 euros you are alienating the average consumer." For another it is even clear: "Well, then I probably wouldn't shop there anymore if I am threatened at the deposit machine.”

Another user, on the other hand, criticized the linguistic deficiencies of the supermarket notice: “You would think that if you go to the trouble of printing and laminating stuff like that, you would at least print complete sentences and read over them.
What the hell is that first 'sentence'."

The topic seemed to generate enough interest that it was shared in another post.
A Rewe customer knows the problem and shared his experience: “A Rewe in FFM once told me that I was only allowed to return bottles that I had bought there.
After pressing 5 euros nothing would have helped, their stupid machine broke after every second.
In fact, I bought everything there.”
Tegut supermarket annoys customers with new deposit rule - but there is also encouragement
However, there are also users who show understanding for the supermarkets.
One said: “I can very well imagine that it is primarily the personnel situation that is why some retailers resort to such measures.
If an employee has to take care of the empties, their labor is missing elsewhere.” Another agreed with this.
“This is a small shop in the hotspot of the deposit collector zone.
Ask what happened to put up this sign,” the Reddit user defended the supermarkets.
Tegut's notice also sparked a discussion about exactly how the deposit is regulated.
Meanwhile, an expert recently revealed a secret deposit.
