Eight convictions and 22 acquittals: this is the verdict of the Court of Appeal of L'Aquila for the Rigopiano tragedy which occurred on 18 January 2017 and cost the lives of 29 people who died in the hotel overwhelmed by an avalanche.
The judges confirmed the sentences imposed at first instance for the mayor of Farindola Ilario Lacchetta, for the managers of the Province Paolo D'Incecco and Mauro Di Blasio, for the technician Giuseppe Gatto and for the former manager of the hotel Bruno Di Tommaso.
In addition
to the former prefect Provolo, who will have to serve a sentence of one year and eight months for forgery and omission of official documents,
Leonardo Bianco
, former head of cabinet of the Prefecture, and Enrico Colangeli, municipal technician of Farindola, were convicted

In the first instance trial Provolo was acquitted.
After five hours of deliberation, the judges of the Court of Appeal of L'Aquila have therefore partially reformed the sentence issued by the court of Pescara in February last year.
For the former head of cabinet of the Prefecture Leonardo Bianco the Court ordered a sentence of one year and 4 months while for the technician of the municipality of Farindola Enrico Colangeli the sentence is two years and 8 months.

I don't think it's a normal thing to bring in a municipal technician and the former prefect for misdirection. Other people should have been condemned. If today they had all received life sentences, I wouldn't have nothing changed. I could look at the photo of my son and say I did my duty to give you justice."
This was said by Alessio Feniello, father of Stefano, the 28-year-old young man who died, together with 28 other people, under the rubble of the Rigopiano hotel on 17 January 2017.
