The former prefect of Pescara Francesco Provolo was sentenced to one year and eight months in the appeal trial for the Rigopiano tragedy
, which occurred on 18 January 2017 and cost the lives of 29 people who died in the hotel hit by an avalanche .
The decision of the judges of the Court of Appeal of L'Aquila came at the end of the deliberation session which lasted almost 5 hours.
In the first instance trial Provolo was acquitted.
