A long weekend that was intended to enjoy the mountains of
Córdoba
ended in tragedy.
Diego Iván Lagos
(37 years old) and
Laura Carrasco Macedo
(35) had traveled from La Pampa to the north, for the carnival festivities.
In the Mediterranean province they were surprised by the fierce current of a river in Calamuchita, the water swept them away and, one day apart, they appeared dead.
They found Lagos first.
It was on Tuesday at 10 in the morning, in Los Reartes.
He was a police officer and, like his partner, had arrived from La Pampa.
This Wednesday,
the authorities found the woman
, Carrasco Macedo (35), drowned 500 meters from the south bridge of the Los Reartes River.
According to the first reports, she was of Uruguayan nationality.
Both had arrived from Santa Rosa, the capital of the Pampas.
They had been camping since Sunday at the Los Mirlos campsite, in Villa General Belgrano.
At the scene, the work of prosecutor Paula Bruera, firefighters, police and special rescue teams continues to continue with the expertise.
There they had found, when they were still looking for both of them alive, a Volkswagen Bora car and a tent with their documentation.
Laura Carrasco Macedo, the Uruguayan citizen who drowned in Calamuchita.
These are two new victims in the water bodies of Córdoba, in the midst of a strong flood.
In Calamuchita, the rivers rose in level by more than 3.2 meters, due to the intense rains over the weekend.
Although researchers continue to explore the hypotheses, the main version indicates that they were surprised by the increase in the flow of the Los Reartes River.
The search is still ongoing for a 30-year-old man who jumped into the San Antonio River, in Carlos Paz, about 50 kilometers from where the Pampas couple died.
In the last few hours, a video of the missing person circulated while trying to swim in the middle of a strong current.
