“Sell to a family?
Children will not be able to play in the garden!
My house is no longer worth anything,” says Guy Errakhli.
This former soldier and father acquired a house in Tonnay-Charente (Charente-Maritime) in 1999 and has since lived on soil polluted with cadmium, arsenic, copper and mercury.
Several corings carried out recently near his vegetable garden revealed concentrations “above expected values” and up to ten times higher than “national guideline values” for… lead.
Guy Errakhli is not the only one affected by these heavy metals in this subdivision affectionately called the “city of gardens”.
Core drilling was also carried out at Patrick Chagneaud.
The result: similar and worrying results, assures this retiree to whom the ARS has recommended – like all residents of the neighborhood – to no longer consume fruits and vegetables grown in the ground and to “carry out regular wet cleaning of the floors of dwellings”.
