Carlos Alcaraz has no doubts, appearing optimistic and confident in the press conference on the eve of his debut as reigning champion and number 1 favorite at the Buenos Aires Open.
"Many things have happened since I won here last year - said Alcaraz -. I feel good, I have great confidence, the clay training sessions have gone well so far. I'm happy with my level of play and my condition" .
World number 2, Alcaraz will make his debut at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club against the Argentine qualifier Camilo Ugo Carabelli or the Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas.
The Murcian played only one tournament this year, the Australian Open, which ended with a quarter-final defeat against Alexander Zverev, with the aim of repeating what he did in 2023. Twelve months ago, in fact, he won the title in Buenos Aires and from there he won five more trophies in six months (Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, ATP 500 in Barcelona, Masters 1000 in Madrid, ATP 500 at Queen's in London and Wimbledon).
