"The president of the commission decides on the admissibility of the amendment but the issue is very delicate. I have no prejudices but it doesn't seem appropriate to decide on this issue using a decree".
This was said by the Minister for Relations with Parliament Luca Ciriani interviewed on SkyTg24 when speaking about the proposed amendment to the third mandate presented by the League to the elections bill being examined by the Senate.
For Ciriani, "an overall reflection" is needed and therefore the amendment would not be the right instrument: "I don't think - he reiterates - this is the case, politically. The question must be posed in another context. I think we can think about it but not in a decree, let's talk about it but it's not possible like this."
"I am not afraid of the citizens, but of those who want to prevent them from deciding - stated the vice-president of the Senate Gian Marco Centinaio, participating in Agorà on Raitre -. If in Parliament there are people who have sat there for decades and have also had a lot power, I don't see why a regional president or a mayor of a large city can't run for the third time and ask voters to evaluate his work".
"A cross-party debate is open on the third mandate. I hope that the issue can be resolved by all sitting around a table and deciding together", concluded the League senator.
