Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who arrived in Cairo yesterday for a two-day visit on the occasion of the centenary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Brazil, wanted to begin his trip with an excursion to the pyramids of Giza.

    Accompanied by his wife Rosangela da Silva, his delegation, Egyptian authorities and a guide, Lula also visited the Sphinx and the Great Egyptian Museum.


    This morning he then went to the presidential palace for a meeting with the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.


   He will then have a meeting with the secretary general of the League of Arab States during the day and will speak to the press.


    Cairo is the first stop on da Silva's African tour, the second in his third presidential term.
