Giovanni Barreca, the bricklayer from Altavilla Milicia accused of the murder of his wife and two children, killed during an exorcism, and his alleged accomplices: Sabrina Fina and Massimo Carandente, remain in prison.

This was decided by the investigating judge of Termini Imerese who validated the arrests ordered for the couple, but not the one imposed on Barreca, establishing, however, precautionary custody in prison for all three.

Yesterday, before the investigating judge Valeria Gioeli called to decide on the validations, the three made use of the right not to respond.

For all, prosecutor Matteo Lanza had requested precautionary custody in prison.

The charges for all are murder and suppression of a corpse.

The victims are Antonella Salamone, Barreca's wife, and her sons Kevin and Emanuel, aged 16 and 5.

In two days, autopsies will be performed on the charred remains of the woman, found buried near the family's home, and on the bodies of the hogtied children, which should clarify the exact times of the crimes and causes of death.

It is not yet clear how Salamone was killed, the two brothers, who the father believed were possessed by the devil and who were also tortured, were suffocated.
