The television host took part in an action led by the animal association this Thursday on the Place du Trocadéro, in Paris.

He has never hidden his opinions in favor of animal welfare.

The host and audiovisual producer Nagui took part this Thursday morning in a striking action led by the animal rights association L214.

With other activists, he posed on the Trocadéro esplanade in Paris, holding the corpse of a chicken from, according to L214, intensive French breeding.

The activists chose to present 44 chickens, for the number of days of intensive breeding during which these animals grow considerably.

Everyone, including the host, wore a sweatshirt with the “Le Gaulois” brand logo, next to which is indicated the day of breeding as well as the weight of the animal.

This action intends to denounce “this genetic selection” carried out by the French agri-food brand LDC, one of the European leaders in poultry regularly singled out by L214.

“These chickens will gain sixty times their weight in six weeks,” denounces the host interviewed by BFM.

You can imagine that the fat is gaining mass and the bones can't keep up.

Which means that these chickens can no longer walk or move forward.

Nagui also intends to highlight the size of the enclosures, “an A4 sheet”, in which the poultry would live, as well as the slaughter conditions.

No anti-meat campaign

The association calls for compliance by manufacturers with the “European Chicken Commitment” (EEC) charter, which must guarantee certain breeding conditions (air quality, natural light, etc.).

“The idea is to guarantee the hygiene and normality with which these chickens must be raised,” explains Nagui, who is not calling for a boycott of the brand.

LDC regularly refutes L214’s accusations.

In August 2023, the agri-food company explained to us that L214 “makes the LDC group, once again, an outrageous caricature which is far from reality, particularly on the living conditions of the poultry that the 6,000 partner breeders of the group have been proudly raising for several generations.”

Nagui, for his part, denies promoting an “anti-meat campaign”: “If you want to eat chicken, do it, but you might as well eat it raised correctly.

Lidl vs Carrefour: where is it better to buy your chicken?

This vegetarian for several years became the godfather of L214 after having “been touched by the images of the association several years ago”.

L214 became known thanks to these shocking videos, discreetly recorded on farms and slaughterhouses.

In 2020, Nagui was criticized after denouncing the use of star cows from the “Intervilles” program broadcast on France Télévision.

“For two years, I saw what was happening with these animals and I did not want to reproduce that (…) within the limits of respect for animal suffering,” he explained.
