A group of rabbis studying Jewish-Christian dialogue wrote to the Pope: "We are comforted by the fact that you have extended your hand to the Jews of the whole world, and in particular to those of Israel, in this moment of great suffering", they write, underlining " also his commitment to actively opposing anti-Semitism and anti-Judaism, which in recent times have taken on dimensions unknown to most of us in our lifetimes."
The letter, which was reported on the front page of L'Osservatore Romano, is signed by Jehoshua Ahrens (Frankfurt/Bern), Yitz Greenberg (Jerusalem/New York) and David Meyer (Paris/Rome), as well as Karma Ben Johanan (Jerusalem) and Malka Zeiger Simkovich (Chicago).
The letter ends by recalling that "the pain of the inhabitants of this land, whether Jews, Christians, Muslims, or others, impacts our lives and our future" and "we join you Holy Father in praying for peace, for the end of terror , for the healing of the wounded, and comfort to all those who are in affliction and lament."
