This year the additional contributions are increasing again.
Changing health insurance companies can therefore be worthwhile for many insured people.
Bremen - As last year, the health insurance companies have increased their additional contributions.
On average, the rates increase by 0.1 percent from 1.6 percent to 1.7 percent.
In October 2023, the federal government decided to increase additional contributions for health insurance companies - albeit on a voluntary basis for insurers.
Many of the health insurance funds reacted accordingly differently in the new year with their new contribution rates.
While some contributions increase significantly more - in some cases up to 2.7 percent - other health insurance companies even reduce their additional contributions.

Save money when changing health insurance: This is how much you can get out of it
But how much can you save by switching to a health insurance provider?
An example:
If you pay the average additional contribution of 1.7 percent on a gross salary of 3,000 euros, you can save 144 euros by switching to BKK Firmus with the low rate of 0.9 percent.
As the web portal
Finanztip
warns, it is important to note that with a lower additional contribution, relatively more taxes are incurred.
If you stick with the example of 3,000 euros gross for a person without children and without church tax, there would still be an annual savings of 104 euros.

It's not just additional contributions that are affected when you change health insurance
However, according to
Stiftung Warentest,
you should n't be tempted to make a hasty change by cheap additional contributions.
For example, any additional benefits and bonus programs could also be financially worthwhile and could be particularly important if you use health insurance.
