This note speaks of a lot of frustration - and something similar must have happened beforehand: A Penny branch addresses its customers with a notice.
Munich - Notes in the supermarket are not uncommon.
Sometimes customers leave some behind - a tea fan or a dissatisfied chocolate connoisseur, for example.
It is not uncommon for the market team to also address visitors.
This is not always met with complete enthusiasm.
Not even when sentences like “Now you’re out of luck” appear on a notice.
Penny team declares war on know-it-alls with a notice
“If you think you can do the demanding work of our Penny team better, we look forward to receiving your application.”
Reference to an alleged penny notice
Now an unusual note has appeared on Reddit.
Of course, it cannot be verified that this is real, but it looks authentic, especially since you can clearly see a supermarket checkout behind it, along with several jars of pesto.
The note reads: “Our Penny team takes care of our customers’ wishes every day with great commitment and great friendliness.
We therefore ask you to treat our employees with respect and courtesy.” Then things get violent.
“If you think you can do the demanding work of our Penny team better, we look forward to receiving your application.
Thank you!"
Strong tobacco.
It makes you think about what might have happened to bring the Penny employees to such a notice.
Have customers acted like a know-it-all to tell employees how to do their jobs?
Is there a general lack of good nurseries?
A lack of friendliness in supermarkets from both sides was also the topic of a TikTok video in which a Lidl checkout employee recommended some rules to her colleagues.
Penny note meets with understanding – “Fair offer”
The reactions to the penny note are sometimes clear - several who say they have experience in retail express their understanding.
One wrote: “Fair offer.
I worked in retail for over thirty years and when things got too busy for me, I offered people the opportunity to apply directly to the office.
I particularly liked the candidates during the flu season before Christmas who screamed for another cash register... especially funny when they were all full." And further: "I admire everyone in retail who endures direct customer contact on a daily basis."

“I am always surprised that the employees are friendly to me.

A pleasant, understanding approach from all sides, including the employer, would certainly not worsen the supermarket atmosphere.
