US President Joe Biden has once again urged Congress to take action against gun violence, following the shooting during the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City.
“Together with Jill, I pray for those killed and injured, that our country will find the resolve to end this senseless epidemic of gun violence that is tearing us apart,” Biden said in a press release issued by the White House.
"Today's events should touch us, shock us and push us to act", added the US president, inviting Americans to "make their voices heard in Congress so we can finally take action to ban assault weapons, limit magazines to high capacity, strengthen criminal background checks, and keep guns out of the hands of those who have no right to own or handle them."
There were eight children among the 22 people shot in the shooting.
The only victim was identified by the local radio station KKFI as one of its DJs, Lisa Lopez.
