Gilles de Maistre, the great documentary maker, author of investigative reports and then director of films such as Mia and the White Lion, returns to the themes of childhood and the environment with his latest work, in theaters in Italy from 22 February with 01 Distribution: Emma and the Black Jaguar.
Filmed in Playa del Carmen in Mexico and Montreal in Canada, the film tells the story of Emma (Lumi Pollack) who grew up in the Amazon but then moved to New York with her father after her mother was killed by poachers.
In addition to her love for her mother, Emma carries with her the dream of returning to the rainforest to find Hope, the beloved jaguar she met as a child.

When at 14, already accustomed to city life, she discovers that the village where she grew up is threatened by animal traffickers and decides to return.
Anja, Emma's clumsy biology teacher, at first tries in vain to dissuade her, then together they embark on the journey to save Hope from those who seek to destroy her rainforest and wildlife.
