The love and care we give to our cats is changing.

No longer just 'pets', to be cuddled inside our homes and instagrammed in funny and irresistible poses.

Cats are at the center of cultural initiatives and special occasions that were once unimaginable.

On the occasion of National Cat Day, which occurs on February 17th, theatrical performances, concerts and exhibitions take place on the peninsula with our four-legged furry friends at the centre, as well as new 'educational' projects that break beliefs and habits in which cats are antisocial. and not at all lovers of their peers, like the first cage-free cattery.

Celebrations and activities are organized not only for the anniversary but for the entire month of February, nicknamed by some 'cat month'.

Cats have been part of our culture for some time, but in recent years they have become the undisputed protagonists of the pet world and beyond.

Videos of adorable and funny kittens are all the rage on the web: being funny is their innate gift but our little felines also attract the attention of human beings for their independent and free behaviour, so fond of their privacy.

In Novate Milanese the Condominium, 100 cats together

All these ingredients that make cats irresistible were the inspiration for the first show dedicated to cats which showcased the more comical side of the feline world and "cat lovers", also touching on social issues such as adoption, entitled '

Catbaret '

.

It took place in recent days at the Oscar theater in Milan with over 300 spectators and sold out 3 months in advance, so much so that the organizers are thinking of creating new dates (info on condomicio.com).

The show, which brought together renowned artists and comedians such as Claudio Batta, the famous puzzler of Zelig Circus, on stage, was born from an idea by Massimo Persichino, creative director of the Condomicio, a boarding house for cats 'without bars' in Novate Milanese (Milan). Here an ambitious project is being carried out based on a new 'educational' method of managing up to 100 cats together, left free to roam in an open space of around 300 square metres.

The

'Condomicio'

project is proof that the relationship with cats is changing, it is in fact a new way of thinking about managing cats, overcoming one of the biggest challenges: the coexistence and socialization of cats with each other by bringing them together in common areas. managed by educators who take into account the needs, character and experience of each individual four-legged guest.

Once upon a time there was a cat, the exhibition in Milan

Furthermore, on the occasion of National Cat Day, there will be a succession of exhibitions, events and workshops with the feline world at the centre.

In Milan, Rome and Vigevano there are events for the 'City of cats', a national festival of comics, cinema, music and feline culture, with the support of the Feliway brand.

They range from the open days of the catteries involved to the exhibition '

Once upon a time there was a cat

' which will be inaugurated on 17 February at WOW the Comic Space of the Comics Museum of Milan.

We range from the oldest representations, such as the goddess Bastet, a cat deity of ancient Egypt, to the famous Catwoman, Batman's friend-enemy since 1940, from the Cat Woman (later to become Tigra) to the cat Krazy Cat, an unrequited lover of the evil man. Ignazio mouse to Hello Kitty, to the inevitable Aristocats up to 'goodies' such as Gino Paoli's drawings to illustrate the cat from the legendary song.

On the opening night it will also be possible to attend the concert in Miao (free entry) dedicated to the most famous music featuring Italy's most beloved felines.

The initiatives of the City of Cats continue in the following days with many events such as art spaces, screening of docu-films dedicated to Roman cats (titled Roma gatta' by Gaetano Amalfitano), as well as debates and insights in webinar mode on the world of cats and their well-being (info on museowow.it or lacittadeigatti.it)
