The establishment of the Agricultural Emergencies Fund (300 million euros), the Ismea Innovation Fund (250 million euros) and the Food Sovereignty Fund (100 million euros), in addition to the renegotiation of the Pnrr, with a further 2 .85 billion euros for agricultural interventions and an update of the related measures, "now more flexible and responsive to the needs of companies".

These are the measures that the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida reported during his briefing to the Council of Ministers on the strategic objectives for the agricultural sector.

The Minister illustrated what emerged from the recent discussion with the agricultural sector representatives to discuss the current problems of the sector, who were given ample reassurances regarding the presence in the Government programs of many of the interventions requested and also recalled the initiatives already undertaken to support companies in managing the increase in production costs and market volatility, with a long-term strategy aimed at the weakest supply chains or those capable of having the greatest impact on innovation in the sector.

Lollobrigida also recalled the initiatives already undertaken "to support companies in managing the increase in production costs and market volatility, with a long-term strategy aimed at the weakest supply chains or those capable of having a greater impact on innovation in the sector ".

The new resources are aimed at supply chain contracts, the minister reported, "aimed at enhancing efficiency and ensuring a more equitable distribution of value between the various components of the supply chain itself, as well as the intervention relating to the Agricultural Park, which finances plants photovoltaic systems on the roofs of agricultural buildings without land consumption".

At the next Council of Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers on 26 February Lollobrigida will present a memorandum to modify the CAP so that it once again responds to the strategic objectives of an economic and social nature envisaged by the European Union treaties.

As far as we know, the minister himself said this in a briefing to the Council of Ministers, underlining that the common agricultural policy must guarantee the security of food supplies and ensure an adequate standard of living for those who work in the agricultural sector, objectives that can only be achieved supporting farmers' income.

Lollobrigida also underlined that while the tractor protests in Germany and France, which represented "above all a reaction to some government initiatives, such as the abolition of tax breaks on agricultural fuels or new taxes on agricultural machinery, in Italy none of these proposals is part of the government's agenda which, on the contrary, has confirmed an annual allocation of more than one billion euros to guarantee a subsidy deemed essential such as that of agricultural diesel".

Speaking about the tractor blockades in Italy, the minister said that the farmers involved in the protests "do not refer to the major agricultural organizations but are rather the expression of spontaneous movements".

And he explained that in confrontation with the executive "the demonstrators were reassured because they verified that many of their requests are already an integral part of the government strategy and that various objectives regarding the problems reported have already been achieved".
