An Oscar-winning director to direct a film about the Bee Gees.

Ridley Scott is in talks with Paramount to get behind the camera of the still untitled project about the Australian-British band among the most influential in the history of pop music.

This was reported by several American media.

Paramount will also handle distribution while the executive producers include Barry Gibb, the only one alive of the three brothers, Maurice died in 2003, Robin in 2012. The project, written by John Logan (Gladiator), follows the life and career of the Gibb brothers after their first hit, 'How Can You Mend a Broken Heart'.

The band also composed the soundtrack to 'Saturday Night Fever', a 1977 film starring John Travolta.

In addition to the international success of the film, the soundtrack became the best-selling album of all time.

A documentary on the three Gibb brothers had already been made in 2020: The Bee Gees how can you mend a broken heart directed by Frank Marshall, selected at the Telluride festival and seen on streaming platforms.
