The accident reports presented to INAIL between January and December 2023 were over 585 thousand (-16.1% compared to 2022), of which 1,041 were fatal (-4.5%), however, occupational diseases are still on the rise, almost 73 thousand (+19.7%).

The drop in injuries is almost exclusively due to the lower impact of the Covid cases that characterized the latest findings.

And among fatal accidents, commuting accidents, i.e. those which occurred on the way from home to work, decreased (dropped from 300 to 242), while those which occurred during work increased, rising from 790 to 799 cases.

The territorial analysis shows declines in the North-West (from 301 to 270 cases), in the North-East (from 245 to 233) and in the Center (from 225 to 193) and increases in the South (from 235 to 255) and in the Islands (from 84 to 90).
