DECRYPTION - When the couple runs out of steam, the partners sometimes try to give it new momentum. Is it really possible to restart the machine? How do you even know if there is anything left to save?


“Most couples who come to see me more or less consciously want to ‘rekindle the flame’,” reports Caroline Kruse, therapist and marriage counselor.

Men and women who have been together for 10, 15 or even 20 years, who “no longer speak to each other”, “only pass each other” and dare to confide a lack or absence of desire.

Awareness can come after many years, when the children grow up and we are less consumed by daily family life and our role as parents.

“Younger couples are also concerned, often after the birth of a child which disrupts the place and role of each person,” continues the therapist.

They then struggle to leave the parental couple to find themselves as a marital couple.

Often, their objective is simple: to give impetus to the relationship, to reawaken it.

But when you think about it, is it really possible?
