"Car incentives are planned to be directed mainly at vehicles that can be produced in our country" and "in Europe we managed to get the Euro7 regulation changed, Stellantis' main request for investing in Italy".
For these two reasons, "we now expect significant increases in domestic car production".
The Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, said this on the Rai Radio 1 program "IlRosso e il nero".
"For cars, we do not give financial aid to individual companies - the minister said again -. We can create new extraordinary incentive plan, with greater resources, which this year are almost 1 billion euros".
According to Urso, the aid criteria are three: in addition to supporting cars produced in Italy, he explained, "we give more resources to those who scrap the most polluting cars and to those with the lowest incomes, with incentives of up to 13,750 euros".
"The problem is how to increase national car production - concluded Urso -. In the last ten years there has been a reduction in production capacity. But just yesterday Tavares (Carlos, CEO of Stellantis, ed.) said that he could change the Stellantis, to reach 1 million vehicles produced in Italy in the next few years (per year, ed.)".
