Alexei Navalny's body is not in the morgue that was indicated by the Russian authorities

: this is claimed by the collaborators of the Russian dissident who died yesterday in prison.

Navalny's lawyer, who arrived in the town of Salekhard today with Navalny's mother - Lyudmila - called a morgue number and was told that "Alexei's body is not in the morgue", as he had stated the prison where Navalny died: his collaborators wrote it on Telegram.

Alexei Navalny's spokeswoman, Kira Yarmysh, today accused the Russian authorities of "lying" about the causes of the opponent's death and of trying to "do everything not to hand over his body".

Navalny's lawyer was told that "the cause of death has not been established" yet, Yarmysh said on the team's Telegram channel, reported by the Dozhd newspaper.

Meanwhile, over 200 people were stopped in various Russian cities

, including Moscow and St. Petersburg,

during rallies in memory of Navalny

: this was reported by the human rights NGO OVD-Info, as reported by the Guardian.

At least 212 people were stopped between yesterday and today during the events organized in Russia in memory of Navalny, the NGO specifies, underlining that this is the largest wave of protest arrests in 18 months.

The police, according to the NGO, stopped at least 109 people in St. Petersburg and at least 39 in Moscow, the two largest cities in the country.

The group also reported stops in smaller cities across Russia: from the border town of Belgorod, where seven people were killed Thursday in a Ukrainian missile attack, to Vorkuta, a mining outpost in the Arctic.

The British government has summoned diplomats from the Russian embassy to say that Russian authorities are held "fully responsible" for Navalny's death.

Britain's Foreign Office said in its statement that Navalny's death in his Arctic prison must be "subject to a full and transparent investigation."

Alexei Navalny's mother has been formally informed of the death of Putin's opponent in prison,

her team announced, adding that Navalny's relatives have requested that his body be handed over to them "immediately".
