Israel carried out secret attacks on two major gas pipelines inside Iran, interrupting the flow of heat and cooking gas to provinces with millions of people, the New York Times reported, citing two Western officials and a military strategist affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The attacks, according to the NYT, represent a notable change in the shadow war that Israel and Iran have been waging for years through air, land, sea and cyber attacks.
Attacks on the pipelines require deep knowledge of Iranian infrastructure and careful coordination, especially since the two pipelines were hit in multiple places simultaneously.
