Sinner vs Griekspoor, the semi-final of the ATP 500 in Rotterdam
Jannik Sinner's march towards the final of the Dutch tournament continues, the first match for the blue after the historic victory at the Australian Open.
Tonight the world no.4 faces Dutch Tallon Griekspoor.
Sinner aims to become the first player since Lleyton Hewitt to win the title in the first tournament played after winning his first Slam but he also has his sights set on a step up in the rankings.
Before taking the field he had learned that Daniil Medvedev will miss the Doha tournament, which he won last year.
"Unfortunately I won't be able to try to defend the title, I'm not 100% ready to compete yet" declared the Russian.
At this point the blue has the chance to oust him from third place if he reaches the end in Rotterdam.
Between subtractions and additions of the points lost and gained by the two rivals compared to the tournaments of the previous season, the final in Holland would be enough for the Italian Sinner to find himself ahead of the Muscovite in the ranking which will be published on 26 February.
