The Pope expresses "condolence" and "sorrow" for the accident in Florence and relaunches his appeal for "safety in the workplace".
In a telegram sent, signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, to the Archbishop of Florence, Card.
Giuseppe Betori, the Pope expresses "feelings of closeness and condolences to the families of the victims together with his deepest participation in the pain of the entire town. In this particularly dramatic moment, Pope Francis - we read in the telegram - wishes to renew the appeal for safety in the workplace, hoping a greater commitment from those who have the responsibility to protect workers and, while he thanks all those who are working in the rescue operations, he assures his fatherly prayers and sends the apostolic blessing to everyone as a sign of spiritual closeness".
