A half-naked British passenger was arrested on suspicion of punching a flight attendant and vandalizing the plane's toilet during the flight.
According to reports, other passengers had to intervene when the unidentified man, 35, allegedly caused havoc on a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Heathrow, London, on Wednesday last week.
Upon landing in London, the shirtless man was arrested on suspicion of serious damage and endangering an aircraft.
According to a document of the event distributed by the Social Security Authority, it appears that the passenger hit the flight attendant so hard that he fell to the floor.
A passenger who recorded the alleged assault on the phone said: "He was in the bathroom and he started screaming and yelling. He started banging on the door that came off its hinges. Another passenger in a white t-shirt tried to get him out. A fight broke out and he ended up hitting the steward. I think he broke his nose ".
"We had to hear his foul curses"
Passengers were also reportedly warned that the flight might have to be diverted to Dubai if the passenger did not calm down, but luckily the plane was able to continue on its route.
The passenger added: "Two passengers sat on either side of him and pulled him down. We had to hear his shouts and rude curses. People changed seats and moved children to the back of the plane. Upon landing, the police came in and took him off the plane."
The police claim that the man was taken away after the plane landed, adding that he remains in custody following the incident.
Another passenger was taken to the hospital, where his condition was assessed and it was found that his life was not in danger, according to the police statement.
The London police said: "We arrived at the plane and arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of serious damage and endangering an aircraft. He remains in custody. Another person was taken to the hospital and his life is not in danger."
