As part of the 2024 edition of the Berlinale, at an institutional meeting in the presence of the Councilor of the Board of Directors of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia Vincenzo Mannino, the President of the Fondazione Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia Sergio Castellitto shared with the Italian press some previews relating to the main, future initiatives promoted by the Foundation.
The first initiative planned will be "Diaspora of artists in war": three days of meetings with directors, authors and performers from the war zones of the world will be involved with the aim of telling their stories and discussing the meaning of their work, trying to understand how cinema has faced and is facing, nowadays, the theme of war.
The project is being prepared for June 2024 and will be hosted in the historic Roman headquarters of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia;
The teachers, managers, students and the external offices of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia will contribute to the organization.
The words of President Sergio Castellitto on the "Diaspora of artists in war" exhibition: "There is a first initiative that I care a lot about as President of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. Everything was born in the days in which the war between Israel exploded and Hamas - which somehow "doubled" the tragedy of Ukraine. And I thought about those filmmakers who work or who try to work in the places of war in the world. The possibility of opening the doors of the Center seemed interesting and exciting to me Experimental three days of meetings inviting filmmakers, artists, screenwriters and producers to talk and exchange ideas. This is the "gist" of the project that we will try to organize around the month of June.
Naturally you can imagine that it is not easy to invite people who live often in extremely complicated conditions, but we will try because we think it is an important initiative. Especially by virtue of the fact that we are the Experimental Center of Cinematography, which is located in Rome, the city of Roberto Rossellini and Rome, open city".
Furthermore, the CSC - Cineteca Nazionale is completing the restoration of new masterpieces in the history of Italian cinema including "Ecce bombo", the second feature film by Nanni Moretti presented in competition in 1978 at the 31st edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
As regards training, the CSC - National Film School recently launched the new selection call for admission to the three-year courses 2024/2027;
this year, course candidates will have the opportunity to submit applications electronically,
