"Our film - said Nolan, the first Bafta winner in a long career of cult films - ends on a dramatically necessary note of desperation. But in the real world, there are many people and organizations who have fought long and hard to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in the world. In recent times, things have been going in the wrong direction. And so, by accepting this award, I just want to recognize their efforts and highlight that they show the need and potential of peace efforts."

Less than a month before the Oscar night on March 11, Oppenheimer, who is nominated for 13 Academy statuettes, won in the most prestigious category of best film at the Royal Hall in London ahead of the Palme d'Or 2023 in Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet (a London won the Bafta for best original screenplay), The Holdovers by Alexander Payne, Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese and "Poor Creatures!"
