Notre-Dame de Paris is his “home”, he smiles.
Like “all French people”, Laurent Ulrich was “seized with fear and sadness” on April 15, 2019, when he discovered the building in flames on television.
He was then archbishop of Lille (North), before being appointed head of the archdiocese of Paris less than three years later.
Since then, he has overseen the reconstruction of the interior of the cathedral: furniture, stained glass windows, orientation of visitors and distribution of priceless works, including Christ's crown of thorns.
Interview with a very busy man, aware that the reopening of Notre-Dame will attract a huge crowd.
