"We must listen to the suffering and the cry that comes from the agricultural sector which needs to be put back at the center of public policies and the attention of the institutions".
This was said by the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, in Ortona (Chieti), where she also met some agricultural operators during an initiative in view of the regional elections on 10 March.
"We must do it however - he continued - without making fun of the people as this government is doing, which has rushed to jump on the tractors, but forgets that that protest is also made because it was decided to remove the Irpef exemption from the agricultural sector and to remove support from young farmers, so they hide from their responsibilities, pointing the finger only at Europe, but the truth is that we need to support that sector by taking it by the hand. On Friday we invited all the representatives of the organized agricultural world, the large one and the small one, the cooperatives and the associations, to the party for a reflection on how to provide concrete solutions".
