Will a Muslim country on the border of Iran save the construction industry in Israel?/Yotam Ronan
The ties with Azerbaijan are getting stronger: after opening its embassy in Israel for the first time in March 2023, Interior Minister Moshe Arbel met today (Monday) in his office with Azerbaijan's ambassador to Israel, Mukhtar Mamedov.
At the meeting, the two discussed, among other things, the promotion of governmental cooperation between the countries, and the promotion of bringing in workers from Azerbaijan for the benefit of the plight of workers in the construction industry.
Azerbaijan's ambassador to Israel Mokhtar Mamdov: "We do not forget the assistance that Israel gave us that we needed, we are aware of Israel's plight with workers in the construction industry and therefore we have already been instructed to get into the matter and assist as much as possible in the issue."
Let's recall that despite being a Shiite Muslim country, the Azeri street and the leadership support Israel during the fighting.
Fuel supplies and flights were not stopped, and pro-Israeli articles were published in the press.
In December, it was even reported that Azerbaijan's security services thwarted a terrorist attack against the Israeli embassy and arrested an Iranian terrorist who was on his way to carry out the attack.

Israel's ambassador to Azerbaijan, George Dick, recently thanked Azerbaijan for its support for Israel: "I stopped counting the number of emails and messages we received from people in all walks of life in Azerbaijan who wanted to support Israel. It touched our hearts very much and it gives us strength in a dark hour that of our history."
The long and successful relationship that exists between the countries is based on security and economic interests mainly.
According to foreign publications, in exchange for the many weapons that strengthen the capabilities of the Azeri army against the neighboring enemy, Armenia, Israel is allowed rare and almost unlimited access to the long border that Azerbaijan shares with Iran.
