Consob points the finger at financial scams that "repropose the scheme of the cat and the fox and the gold sequin tree, made famous by an episode of Pinocchio, the fairy tale by Carlo Collodi".
"Whether they arrive via the web or by telephone - explains the markets supervisory authority - whether they propose offers in cryptocurrencies, in shares of companies with well-known brands or who even abuse the name of Consob itself, to deceive savers, the result is always the same: whoever falls into the trap loses his money."
"All of them - he underlines - have in common the promise of very high earnings in a very short time".
Even the Consob logo itself is exploited to "present to already defrauded savers the misleading hypothesis of a debt collection, which in reality is nothing more than a scam after the scam" by promoting initiatives that "have nothing to do with Consob" .
Savers have the task of "adopting all the necessary precautions when they are asked to accept offers with an extraordinarily promising appearance, most often promoted by abusive intermediaries".
To do this, a tool available to everyone is the 'Watch out for scams!' section.
