The troubled history of the Taranto steelworks dates back a long way.


    On 9 July 1960 the foundation stone was laid, in 1961 the start-up of the tube factory, on 24 October 1964 the activation of the first blast furnace, on 10 April 1965 the plant was officially inaugurated by the President of the Republic Giuseppe Saragat.

He was the state Italsider.


1989

: the birth of Ilva spa, which absorbs Finsider and Nuova Italsider, so defined in 1983.


 1995

: it is the year of privatization.

The large iron and steel hub of Taranto passes to the Riva Group.


2012

: on 26 July the investigating judge of Taranto Patrizia Todisco, as part of the investigation called "Ambiente Svenduto", signs the first precautionary custody orders and orders the seizure of the plants in the hot area.

On December 3, a law decree was approved authorizing the continuation of production.


2013

- In May, the investigating judge Todisco orders a maxi-seizure of 8 billion euros on the assets and accounts of the Riva group, then the order is annulled by the Court of Cassation.

On 4 June the Government approves a decree for commissioner management.

Enrico Bondi commissioner, Edo Ronchi sub commissioner.

2014: in March, the Government approves the Prime Ministerial Decree containing the environmental plan.

In May Piero Gnudi becomes the new government commissioner in place of Bondi and in August 2014 Corrado Carrubba takes over from Ronchi.


2015

: in January the steelworks goes under extraordinary administration.

The commissioners become three: Gnudi and Carrubba are joined by Enrico Laghi.


2016:

on 4 January the Minister of Economic Development Federica Guidi starts the process for the assignment of the steelworks to private individuals.

The new minister Carlo Calenda takes office on 8 May.

On June 30th only two consortia remain: Am Investco and Acciaitalia.

2017: the deadline for submitting binding offers expires on 6 March.

The Italian consortium is joined by the steel giant Jindal.

On May 26, the extraordinary commissioners proposed the Am Investco consortium.

On 5 June Minister Calenda signs the decree assigning it to ArcelorMittal.


2018

: Luigi Di Maio arrives at the top of the Mise.

ArcelorMittal presents the integration to the original industrial plan.

On 6 September the proposed agreement on the transfer was signed after long negotiations with the unions.

Hiring starts November 1st.


  2019

: on 3 November the criminal immunity (introduced for the first time by decree in January 2015) is canceled and the following day ArcelorMittal files the summons to withdraw from the rental contract and subsequent purchase of Ilva.


  2020

: on 4 March an agreement is signed between the commissioners Ilva and ArcelorMittal which provides for a negotiation to verify the conditions for the signing of a new agreement on governance.

In December ArcelorMittal and Invitalia signed the agreement.


2021

: on 15 April, with the payment of the relevant share, Invitalia's entry into the share capital of AM InvestCo Italy is sanctioned, with a participation of 38% of the share capital.

The remaining 62% stake remains with ArcelorMittal.

The group is renamed Acciaierie d'Italia.


2022

: on May 31st the white smoke between the shareholders of Acciaierie d'Italia and the commissioners of the former Ilva on the agreement which provides for the postponement to 2024 of the State's increase to 60% of the steel company through Invitalia.


2023

: after a year in which production data is lower than expected and despite repeated attempts ArcelorMittal and Invitalia are unable to reach an agreement either on the recapitalization or on the acquisition of the plants.


  2024

: the conflict is now open between the public shareholder and the Indians.

Payments for related industries are also among the issues.

Invitalia the controlled administration, which the government could activate very soon by effectively placing the company under administration in search of new investors
