Ukrainian troops are facing "heavy attacks" from the Russian army which is advancing in the southern region of Zaporizhzhia.
The leaders of the Kiev armed forces declared this after last week Moscow achieved the most significant success on the territory by taking control of Avdiivka, in the eastern Donetsk region, since the capture of Bakhmut in May 2023. The high Ukrainian commander , Oleksandr Tarnavsky, said that Russia was launching multiple attacks near the village of Robotyne, one of the few places where Kiev had managed to regain ground during the counteroffensive.
