"We are surprised and disappointed to read in the Italian media that Invitalia has asked the Italian government to start the process to place Acciaierie d'Italia under extraordinary administration".

Thus begins the letter sent by Arcelor Mittal to Invitalia on the evening of February 18, where the steel group accuses Invitalia of not having "shared this intention in the board of directors of AdIHolding which was held today" by not subsequently informing "neither AdI nor Arcelor Mittal that they had undertaken this action".

"It is a serious violation of the investment agreement", we read in the text on the former Ilva.

“In recent weeks,” the letter continues, “intensive discussions have taken place to try to reach a fair settlement, whether to provide support to AdI or for our orderly exit. We have participated fully, and in good faith, in these discussions and we reject your attempt to blame us for their unsatisfactory outcome, and to absolve yourselves and the Italian government for the failure of our public-private partnership".

“We reserve all rights,” the text concludes.
