"A country like Italy, which has lived in peace for many years, has the duty to do everything it can to ensure there is peace everywhere".
The president of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, said it at the TeatroComunale of Sassari for the inauguration of the 462nd academic year of the University, during which he will hold a lectio magistralis on the pillars for peaceful coexistence in the light of the encyclical de Papa "All brothers".
According to Zuppi we are witnessing "a world war in many pieces".
This is why "we must do everything to facilitate peace: war pollutes hearts and ruins the human atmosphere".
