Shawn Johnson, Meghan Markle's cousin – he is the son of her maternal uncle Joseph, who died in August 2021 – nevertheless kept photos of his young years with the Duchess of Sussex.

We see Meghan Markle as a baby, nestled in the arms of her maternal grandmother Jeanette.
But also a little girl, dressed in a black sweatshirt and her eyes fixed on the camera.
In other photographs, she appears in the company of a childhood friend, on a beach in Hawaii, or in the arms of her father.

The makings of a star
“She was always very nice,” Shawn Johnson told the tabloid.
She always had the makings of a star.”
Before adding: “Her good humor was contagious and she was very mature for her age.
She always took care of us and made sure everything was okay.”
Although he has not seen his cousin for two decades, the forty-year-old remembers a very happy shared childhood.
“Meghan really helped make it great – she played a big role,” he assured.
It was really nice to go on vacation with her.”

And the cousin added: “We just had the feeling that she would do something incredible with her life.”
The little boy was far from suspecting that his cousin would one day marry a prince, before returning to the United States.
Asked about the various controversies targeting Meghan Markle, Shawn Johnson defended his cousin.
“Some rumors are so harsh, and I know they are false (…), he said.
But that’s how people deal with celebrities.”
