This was stated by the president of the National Federation of Medical Orders (Fnomceo), Filippo Anelli, on the occasion of the event organized in Rome to celebrate the Day.
On this day in which the value of all healthcare professions is celebrated, Anelli underlined, "it is right to express heartfelt thanks to the minister for the attention shown towards healthcare workers who on several occasions had asked for a concrete response to the rampant phenomenon of the often reckless recourse to the criminal judiciary against healthcare workers. The approval of the amendment, prepared by the Government, on the criminal shield, represents a first and adequate response to the more complex issue of medical responsibility and negligence. effectively operating the ministerial commission chaired by magistrate Adelchi D'Ippolito to whom Minister Nordio has entrusted the task of reviewing the current legislation".
Anelli then recalled Pope Francis' invitation 'Let us take care of those who suffer and are alone, perhaps marginalized and discarded': "The Pope's invitation - he stated - solicits our consciences in a historical moment which sees three million Italians giving up treatment, due to a National Health Service that struggles to ensure adequate assistance to everyone, according to the principle of universality of treatment".
