The United States has told allies that Russia could deploy a nuclear weapon or a mock warhead in space as soon as this year.
The Bloomberg agency reports this, citing some sources, according to whom Moscow is developing capabilities that could knock out satellites using a nuclear weapon.
According to preliminary US assessments, Russia does not intend to deploy any orbital weapons, however the risk is that of an accident and a nuclear explosion which could create problems for communications systems.
The topic could be the subject of the G7 foreign ministers.
