China has criticized US and EU protectionist actions against the export of its electric cars, noting that the "small courtyard with high walls" moves will damage global progress and prosperity.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning urged openness rather than isolation.
"The robust export data of electric vehicles reflects the vitality of China's high-quality development and innovation, providing global consumers with high-quality, cost-effective products and contributing to the global low-carbon green transition," Mao added.
