"The steps required to create the Italian organic brand have been started and we want it to be ready as soon as possible."
This was said by the Undersecretary for Agriculture, Luigi D'Eramo, at the end of the meeting with the sector representatives, in which, as we read in a note from Masaf, "a point was made on various issues, from the inter-professional organizations of supply chain to initiatives that help communicate the added value of organic products".
The relaunch of the sector, D'Eramo specified, "also involves effective communication. Alongside institutional campaigns, I believe it is useful to involve subjects such as local authorities or the Italian Federation of Parks and Natural Reserves. A double result would thus be achieved: a revival of consumption would be encouraged and the opportunities linked, for example, to organic districts would be fully seized".
Like the rest of agriculture, he recalled, the sector is also going through a period of difficulty caused by production costs, a setback in demand and the effects of climate change.
As we have done so far, we will continue to offer our support to the supply chain.
The common objective is to consolidate Italian leadership and strengthen a strategic sector for the country and for our agriculture", concluded D'Eramo.
