Friendship, adventure, magic – these and more are the order of the day in “Harry Potter”.

If you are fans of this, the following books might be for you.

Some fans have been waiting longingly for the long-awaited letter from Hogwarts for generations.

The “Harry Potter” magic began in Germany around 26 years ago.

Since then, fans big and small have been excited about the protagonists Harry, Ron and Hermione.

It's about friendship, good and evil, justice and a good dose of magic.

After seven classic “Harry Potter” books, one for each Hogwarts year, it’s over.

However, there are sequels in the form of a play, books and films that are assigned to the magical world.

But what do “Harry Potter” fans do after reading the books?

The following books could spark similar magic.

Magical like “Harry Potter”?

Cornelia Funke is one of the most successful German children's book authors; she created, among other things, "The Wild Chickens" and also the multi-part "Ink World" series, starting with "Ink Heart".

The focus is on a creepy guest and a mysterious book.

One stormy night, Meggie and her father, the bookbinder Mo, are visited by a sinister guest who warns Mo about a man named Capricorn.

The next morning, Mo and Meggie travel to Aunt Elinor, who has a very valuable library.

Here Mo hides the book that is at the center of an incredible, magical and breathtaking adventure.

An adventure in the course of which Meggie solves the mystery of Magic Tongue and Capricorn and also finds herself in great danger.

Neil Gaiman “Neverland”

Graphic novels, screenplays or “just” novels, the British author Neil Gaiman has tried everything and interwoven humor and fantasy.

The book “Neverland” is about the hidden realm “Under London”.

The protagonist Richard meets an injured girl and then stumbles into a great adventure with her.

Richard Mayhew leads a calm life in London until one day an injured girl falls at his feet and asks him for help.

Richard agrees and ends up in an adventure that he could never have imagined in his dreams.

Because Door is no ordinary girl, but belongs to the hidden realm of “Under London”.

With her, Richard ends up in a world that is far stranger and more dangerous than anything he knew before.

Erika Johansen “The Queen of Shadows”

Fantasy with a female lead, that’s “The Queen of Shadows” by Erika Johansen.

Another connection for “Harry Potter” fans is the female lead in the film adaptation, as there is a reunion with Emma Watson (played Hermione in the film adaptations of “Harry Potter”).

This is what the book is about:

A kingdom that has been threatened by powerful enemies for many years.

A young ruler who has to take responsibility for thousands of people from one day to the next.

And an ancient magic that holds the potential to save or destroy entire worlds... Nothing is as it should be for Kelasea Raleigh: she never asked to be queen of a dirt-poor country at the age of nineteen.

No one prepared her for the hatred she faced at her own court.

And she would never have thought that two completely different men would have a say in the future of her reign.

Towards the light or towards the dark...
