New step for the health profession of the osteopath: a graduated professional who carries out interventions for the prevention and maintenance of health independently, or in collaboration with other health professionals, through the osteopathic treatment of somatic dysfunctions not attributable to pathologies in the field of musculoskeletal system.
This is what is specified in the Mur-Salute decree which defines the degree path now published in the Official Journal.
"The last and necessary formal step to allow Italian universities to establish new degree courses in osteopathy has also been completed. The decree issued by the Ministry of University and Research in agreement with the Ministry of Health which defines for the first once in our country the educational system of the degree course in osteopathy has been published in the Official Journal", explains Roi, the Register of Osteopaths of Italy, ''Osteopathy - stated Paola Sciomachen, president of Roi - will enrich with its specific approach the panorama of healthcare professions, finally among the possible choices of Italian students there will also be a three-year degree in osteopathic disciplines in the future.
Among the positive effects of this measure there are also those that concern scientific research in the osteopathic field, which can be further relaunched thanks to its integration into the university system.
A new season full of opportunities opens, I once again thank all the institutions, from Minister Bernini to Minister Schillaci, for the work done''.
