Open stage applause for Michael J. Fox at the Baftas: the Back to the Future actor, who has been battling Parkinson's disease for years, received long open applause when he surprisingly entered the stage in a wheelchair to present the best film award to Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.
Fox, whose condition has worsened of late, insisted on standing to present the trophy to the British director and the rest of the crew in a highlight of the ceremony.
"There's a reason they say movies are magical. Movies can change your day, your perspective. And sometimes they can even change your life," he said, reading the list of nominees.
It was the most moving moment of the evening at the Royal Festival Hall.
Also in the audience was Prince William without his wife Kate who is still recovering.
Another tear-jerking moment was when Hannah Waddington performed a cover of Time After Time for the "in Memoriam" segment dedicated among others to Tina Turner and Michael Gambon.
