"No water, you're Russian."
This is what a Russian teacher who works in Italy would have heard reply at the duty free at Fiumicino airport.
The complaint via social media, relaunched by the online sites of Repubblica and Corrieredella sera, is told by the teacher and translator AnnaLarina in a video on Instagram.
"The duty free shop assistants told me that they can't sell me anything because Russia started the war two years ago and they put forward the ministry's so-called provisions as a reason."
Aeroporti di Roma entrusted solidarity with the woman to a post on Instagram.
"We are dismayed and regret what happened to you during your stay at Fiumicino airport - writes the company that manages the Roman airport -. The behavior described is absolutely not in line with the standards applied by the commercial partners of Aeroporti di Roma".
Aelia, the manager of the shop where the incident occurred, also apologised.
"As a group - he wrote on social media - we respect all our customers, regardless of origin, gender or age. We sincerely apologize for what happened yesterday in our store. It is an isolated incident and we are carrying out all the necessary checks to ensure that such incidents do not siripetano".
